(KNSI) – Police say an armed man robbed and threatened a man with brass knuckles.

Investigators say Abdimalik Hassan Abi parked behind a man in the back parking lot of New York Gyro, on the 800 block of University Drive in St. Cloud, on May 21st.

The man says the 22-year-old walked up to his window while wearing brass knuckles on his hand and a 9mm pistol in his waistband.

Police say Abi took the man’s cell phone. The man told police Hassan robbed him and gave a description of his car.

According to the criminal complaint, the next day, Abi was pulled over in Waite Park and police found the victim’s phone, brass knuckles, ammo and a 9mm handgun.

Hassan has been charged with 1st degree and 2nd degree aggravated robbery, and two counts of possession of a dangerous weapon by a violent offender.

He has a prior conviction for making terroristic threats in Hennepin County that bars him from owning or possessing guns.

Bond was set at $200,000. His next court appearance is June 3rd.
