Police: Pursuit Ends In Fatal Crash

(KNSI) - Police say a man led officers on a high-speed chase and crashed into another vehicle, leaving one man dead.
Becker police say an intoxicated man, later identified as 38-year-old Jason Jerome Rothmeyer, of Clear Lake, was seen leaving the parking lot of a local restaurant at 7:45 p.m. Friday.
An officer says he saw the vehicle swerving and attempted to pull it over at County Road 23 and 91st Street, but Rothmeyer fled north of Becker at a high rate of speed.
Police say Rothmeyer crossing the intersection of Highway 25 at 82nd Street and struck a vehicle traveling southbound on Highway 25, ejecting one person.
He was was airlifted to North Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
He was identified as Kyle Scott Foley, 18, of Dassel later died from his injuries.
Two others from the vehicle were taken to St. Cloud Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Police say Rothmeyer tried to flee the vehicle on foot but was apprehended a short distance away.
He is being held in the Sherburne County Jail and is being charged with Criminal Vehicular Operation Resulting in Death, Fleeing in a Motor Vehicle and 4th Degree DUI.
