(KNSI) - A person of interest in two burglaries where women in St. Cloud woke to a naked man in their bedroom's has been arrested.
Police say 39-year-old Martin David Hutchins is suspected of breaking into a home on October 19th in the 700 block of 7th Avenue South where a woman says she woke to a naked man in her room who was touching himself.
Police say evidence from the crime scene linked Hutchins to the break in.
Investigators say Hutchins is also a suspect in a burglary in the same area on October 29th where a woman woke to a man in her bedroom naked from the waist down.
The woman says he attempted to sexually assault her and grabbed her by her ankles, but she was able to scream and fight him off.
Investigators say Hutchins became a person of interest due to similar past criminal convictions, living in proximity to the crimes, and matching the description of the suspect.
He was taken into custody a day after the second incident in the 600 block of 9th Avenue South, in St. Cloud, for a parole violation in Hennepin County.
He will remain in custody at the Hennepin County Jail pending charges from the Stearns County Attorney’s Office.
The case remains under investigation.
