(KNSI) – Officials are still trying to figure out what caused a fire at a Sauk Rapids school.
District 47 Superintendent Aaron Sinclair told KNSI News that the fire marshal and the insurance company haven’t determined what caused the fire at Pleasantview Elementary School on Sunday, January 13th.
Sinclair says the fire left four of the five third-grade classrooms unusable the rest of the school year. Damage was contained to the portable classroom section.
Two rooms sustained significant fire damage and the others, smoke and water damage.
The fire destroyed two classrooms, along with the supplies bought by teachers and students' winter gear.
The district says donations of school supplies and cash from the community are still coming in and without the support, they wouldn’t have been able to supply the displaced students.
Sinclair says he’s not sure when the investigation into what caused the fire will be finished.
