(KNSI) - Stearns County is hosting an open house on the discovery of emerald ash borer in trees in Sauk Centre.
The meeting is Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Sauk Centre City Council Chambers.
Emerald ash borer larvae kill ash trees by tunneling under the bark and feeding on the part of the tree that moves nutrients up and down the trunk.
Those who come will learn more about EAB and the options available to stop the spread.
The infestation was found on April 2. An emergency quarantine was issued immediately after the discovery.
Residents will also be able to give their opinions about the proposal to place Stearns County under a formal quarantine.
If you are unable to make it to the open house, public comment will be taken through May 17.
