(KNSI) - The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office is again putting up no wake signs on a handful of area lakes after recent rains.

Deputies say showers over the past several weeks has led to high water on the border lakes of Stearns and Wright Counties.

As of now, there's no wake allowed within 300 feet of shore on Grass Lake, Clearwater Lake, Augusta Lake, Carolina Lake, Lake Maria and Lake Louisa.

Boaters are being asked to reduce their speed near shore. If the wake from your boat reaches shore, you're going too fast.

The high-water conditions, combined with unnecessary wakes, has the potential to cause damage to the shoreline, docks and lifts.

When water levels go down the no wake restrictions will be lifted.

This is the second time this year that the county has put the no wake restrictions in place. Last time the restrictions were in place was in late May.

Those restrictions remained for almost three weeks.
