(KNSI) - A variety of new attractions are coming to the great Minnesota get-together.

The Minnesota State Fair has revealed new rides, foods and games in its North End expansion.

Opening the 12,000-square-foot North End Event Center is the brand-new "Angry Birds Universe: The Exhibition."

This interactive experience has massive slingshots, zip lines and the famous Angry Birds characters.

Another new attraction is the Indigenous Food Lab at Dan Patch Park. The lab includes native food demonstrations with chefs who share the history, cultural significance and techniques of ingredients and dishes.

Two new fairground rides will be at the Mighty Midway. The rides include Sea Ray, a giant pirate ship that swings from side to side and Zero Gravity, a supersonic adrenaline-enducing ride sure to make your head spin. At the Kidway there will be a new merry-go-round. There will also be a 50th birthday party for the iconic Giant Slide.

Showcasing this year's Eco Experience is an 18,000 pound block of ice that will melt during the duration of the fair. The purpose of the giant ice block is to raise awareness of climate change and the effects it has on Minnesota's lake ice season along with ecnomic and ecological implications.
