(KNSI) - Two men were able to get out of a sinking truck before it went under the ice.

The Meeker County Sheriff's Office says 25-year-old Alexander Madsen of Litchfield, drove his 2003 Ford Ranger pickup onto Lake Washington, just south of Darwin, and broke through the ice at 7:28 p.m.

Madsen and his passenger, 26-year-old Thomas Wold of rural Darwin, were able to get out of the water and walk to shore for help.

Madsen and Wold were treated at the scene.

Deputies couldn't find where the truck broke through and sank.

Thin ice signs are posted at the lake's public access.

The sheriff's office is telling people to use caution on Lake Washington and other area lakes.
