(KNSI) - A St. Cloud man, who police say punched a woman who was nine months pregnant, has pleaded guilty to two counts of violating a domestic abuse no contact order.
Andrew James Retzlaff has been sentenced to two years and one month in prison. He was given credit for 67 days in jail.
Two felony counts of domestic assault were dismissed.
Police say on May 13th, the 29-year-old took the woman’s phone, put his hand over her mouth and punched her in the arm and shoulder causing bruising.
Investigators say the assault took place at a home the two shared on the 20th block of McKinley Place North in St. Cloud.
According to the criminal complaint, the woman reported the assault nine days later when her baby was born at St. Cloud Hospital.
A domestic abuse no contact order was issued barring Retzlaff from having any contact with the woman.
While in jail in June on the domestic assault charges, Retzlaff called the victim four times.
In one call he asked the woman to send him money if he goes to prison and in another asked her to change the last name of a child they have together.
Retzlaff has three prior convictions for domestic assault in 2008, 2009 and 2011.
