(KNSI) - A St. Cloud man is heading to prison for leading police on a pursuit and crashing into an officer's squad car.
35-year-old Bounkieng Sinthavong pleaded guilty to fleeing from a police officer in a motor vehicle and was sentenced to 20 months in prison.
Two other charges; theft of a motor vehicle and driving after revocation, were dismissed as part of the plea deal.
On March 1st, the St. Cloud Police Department says an off duty officer recognized a vehicle that had been reported stolen being driven in the area of Veterans Drive and 25th Avenue North.
Police responded and attempted to stop the vehicle, but police say Sinthavong refused to stop, and led them on a short pursuit at low speeds.
Police say the man then drove the stolen vehicle into a police cruiser in the 600 block of 11th Street North, bringing the pursuit to an end.
The police department says the stolen vehicle and police cruiser weren't going very fast when they collided, and no one was injured.
Sinthavong was identified as the driver of the stolen vehicle and arrested.
