(KNSI) - One man is dead after a crash between a minivan and a semi in Meeker County.

The Minnesota State Patrol says Steven Delmer Schmidt, of Atwater, was a passenger in a Dodge Caravan that was driven by Blake Lee Ahlbrecht, of Grove City Friday.

The state patrol says Schmidt was killed when Ahlbrecht ran a stop sign at the intersection of County Road 16 and Highway 4 and crashed into a semi traveling south on Highway 4, north of Grove City just before 5:00 p.m.

Authorities say alcohol was a factor in the crash.

According to the state patrol, Schmidt was not wearing a seat belt.

Ahlbrecht and another passenger, 64-year-old Elgene Mahn were not hurt.

The state patrol says the driver of the semi, 72-year-old Gary Dettman, of Stewart, was taken to St. Cloud Hospital with what are believed to be non life-threatening injuries.
