(KNSI) - Police say a man who asked for a ride stole the driver’s car after arriving at his destination.
The victim says he was shoveling snow at the skate park in St. Cloud on February 25th when he was approached by a man, later identified as Eryk Vincent El-Ibrahim, who asked for a ride to the Burlington Coat Factory across the street.
According to the criminal complaint, once at the store’s parking lot the 27-year-old St. Cloud man reached into his pocket, said he had a gun, took the man’s wallet and car keys and told him get out.
Police say El-Ibrahim then drove off with the car.
Later that day the car was found after it was involved in a hit-and-run crash in Minneapolis. El-Ibrahim was arrested.
Investigators say the victim identified El-Ibrahim from a photo lineup.
Police say El-Ibrahim refused to speak with them.
He’s being held in Hennepin County and a warrant has been issued for him to appear in Stearns County District Court.
El-Ibrahim is charged with 2nd degree aggravated robbery.
