(KNSI) - A man is accused of breaking into a home and threatening to kill a man for texting his girlfriend.

According to the criminal complaint on Sunday Eric Joseph Terhaar broke into the home on Lincoln Street South in Sauk Centre and attacked a man.

The victim says the 27-year-old Sauk Centre man put the victim in a headlock and threw him to the ground.

Witnesses reported that Terhaar told the victim he was going to kill him.

Police found Terhaar short time later and he denied going to the home.

He claimed that he was at a bar drinking all night.

A witness told investigators that Terhaar had been drinking at the bar when his girlfriend got a text message from the victim making him angry.

The witness says he heard Terhaar say he was going to hurt the victim.

Terhaar has been charged with 1st degree burglary assault and making terroristic threats.

After posting a $50,000 bond he was released. His next court date is January 12th.

Court records didn't show what was said in the text message.
