(KNSI) – A Sartell man has been charged in connection to an incident that led to a five-hour standoff earlier this week.

Jason William Schwieger has been charged with three felony counts of violating a no-contact order. On Tuesday afternoon, police were called to the 200-Block of 10th Avenue North in Sartell. A judge issued a no-contact order baring the 36-year-old from having any contact with his wife or children. The no-contact order was put in place after multiple incidents of domestic threats and fleeing from law enforcement.

Schwieger is accused of violating the order when he returned to the home where his wife and children were staying. According to the criminal complaint, one of the children told a school employee she was scared to go home because Schwieger was there. The child said Schwieger showed up at the house on Monday night and started arguing with her mother. The following day the girl says she missed the bus and Schwieger wouldn’t let her mother give her a ride. She says he made her walk.

Police went to the home shortly before 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday and learned Schwieger was hiding in a bedroom.

Court records show he came into the hallway several times while holding a knife to his throat. Police say Schwieger refused to drop the knife and said he would only go out in a “body bag.”

St. Cloud SWAT threw a pepper ball into the house to take Schwieger into custody.

Before the standoff, Schwieger had been charged with 11 counts, including stalking, assault, motor vehicle theft, child endangerment and fleeing police. He’s accused of terrorizing the same victims in early August.
