(KNSI) - A St. Joseph man has admitted to exchanging nude pictures with a teenage boy and possessing child pornography.
Murray Allen Dirks pleaded guilty to five counts of possession pornographic work. One count will be dismissed at sentencing on March 28th.
According to the criminal complaint, in January 2017, a Facebook employee informed the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office that Dirks and a 15-year-old boy in Georgia were exchanging pictures of their private parts.
The complaint says, Dirks told the teen it was his “fantasy” to have sex with someone under the age of 18.
Investigators say the exchanges took place in May and June of 2016.
In March 2017, a search warrant was executed on the 42-year-old’s home and a cellphone was seized.
Investigators say the phone had images of children ages 3 to 10 on it.
Police say he admitted to using Facebook to talk to the teen and that the pictures he sent to the teen were of himself. He also admitted that the cellphone was his.
The plea agreement calls for him to serve no more than three years and eight months in prison. His lawyers will be allowed to argue for less time.
Dirks will also be required to register as a predatory offender when he is released.
