(KNSI) - A man charged with murder after allegedly providing the heroin that led to his aunt's overdose death in St. Cloud has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.
Matthew James Vogelsang, of Little Falls, admitted to giving the drugs to 62-year-old Julie Maxine Vogelsang before she died at a home in the 100 block of Highway 10 North on May 3rd, 2018.
A toxicology report showed she died of a drug overdose by mixed toxicity that included heroin.
Investigators say they uncovered evidence indicating that Matthew Vogelsang provided his aunt with the heroin.
The 29-year-old was arrested in the Little Falls area in August.
He was originally charged with 3rd degree murder and other drug crimes but pleaded guilty to 3rd degree drug sale.
The murder charge will be dismissed at sentencing on June 5th.
