(KNSI) - St. Cloud State University Interim President Ashish Vaidya has been named president of Northern Kentucky University.
NKU says Vaidya will take over as president starting July 1, 2018.
Vaidya spoke at a welcoming ceremony Thursday morning at Northern Kentucky.
"It's a really distinct pleasure for me to be here at Northern Kentucky University, this is a tremendous moment for me and my family, it's an opportunity, I'm just so delighted to start this journey with you," he said.
Vaidya was named Interim President of St. Cloud State in June of 2016, after President Earl H. Potter III died after an accident on Interstate 694.
The Minnesota State Board of Trustees appointed Vaidya to a two year term, which would be up in 2018.
NKU says on its website, "Dr. Vaidya will foster a collegial and collaborative culture that capitalizes on the richness of the NKU community and furthers its commitment to academics, access and inclusive excellence."
We have calls out to SCSU to find out about their search for a new president.
