(KNSI) - Republican candidates who want to be the next governor will be in St. Cloud.
The Senate District 14 Republicans will host a forum at the Tuscan Center in Midtown Square at 6:30 Wednesday night.
Senate district chair Sue Rice says candidates Jeff Johnson, Keith Downey, Mary Guiliani Stevens, and Phil Parrish are confirmed as attending and former governor Tim Pawlenty hasn't confirmed but may attend.
"We're going to talk about the economy and state spending. We’re going to talk about health and human services, safety and security, and we're going to go into education, energy and first amendment issues," says Rice.
The event will be moderated by KNSI's Dan "Ox" Ochsner who says what's happening with the President will have an impact on the race.
"Really it ultimately comes down to who can embrace and or distance themselves and or otherwise massage the Donald Trump factor in order to get elected."
Most of the candidates are similar on many of the issues.
"So, the real question is viability for the endorsement, viability for the primary win, that's what I'm thinking," says Ox.
The Minnesota Republican Convention is June 1st in Duluth and the primary election is August 14th.
The general election is November 6th.
