(KNSI) – More than a thousand people are needed to help count the population of Central Minnesota during the 2020 Census.
St. Cloud Community Development Director Matt Glaesman says the United States Census Bureau is offering $14 an hour to people who can go out and count the population.
He says people can apply at the St. Cloud Public Library from 2-5 p.m. on Monday and from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Tuesday.
To be eligible for the jobs, applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a valid Social Security number, and be a U.S. citizen.
The census count starts on April 1st. The National count is constitutionally mandated every ten years.
The population figures affect congressional redistricting and how many members of Congress each state gets, along with helping to determine Federal funding for roads and other projects.
Applicants can also apply online at. For more information or to help apply, call 1-855-JOB-2020.
