(KNSI) - Another Republican has announced they will be running for Congress in the 7th District.

Dr. Noel Collis lives in Albany, and is a practicing gastroenterologist in Hutchinson. Dr. Collis also owns the Collis C-Store in Lake Crystal.

Collis is no stranger to politics. He ran for the 7th District seat in 1992. He also served as Chairman of the Republican Party Health Care Task Force, and worked as a campaign operative for former Minnesota 2nd District Congressman Tom Hagedorn in the 1970s.

Collis said he is running for Congress because incumbent Democrat Peterson has had 30 years to make a difference and western Minnesota and the United States are in dire need of conservative, commonsense Republican leadership.

In a press release, Collis says now is a "defining point for our nation." Adding that, "Collin Peterson is on the wrong side of history and no longer reflects the views and values of western Minnesotans. Peterson enables the national Socialist Democrats, like AOC, Omar and Talib to resist, harass and work to impeach President Trump."

Paynesville Republican Michelle Fischbach announced she is running for the 7th District last week.

Congressman Colin Peterson has served in Congress for the last 30 years.
