(KNSI) - Kids looking for a free lunch now that school is out can get one at the St. Cloud Public Library.
The Summer Food Service Program begins Monday and goes until August 10th.
"Every single weekday between 11:30 and 12:15, kids 18 and under are welcome, no signing up necessary, just show up at the Mississippi Room at the St. Cloud Public Library and they get a free lunch," said Abby Faulkner with the library.
She says the lunch is a balanced nutritious meal and is sponsored by a St. Cloud based nonprofit organization.
"It's the second year that we've hosted the summer meals program, we do this in partnership with the YES Network and we became one of their sites for serving free lunches last year and that went extremely well."
In 2017, more than 1,800 lunches were served at the library.
According to the library's Executive Director Karen Pundsack, last year, they started out with 20 kids at the first event and every week a few more kids showed up.
She says by the end of the program they were seeing about 70 kids a day.
