(KNSI) - Operation Baby New Year's Beers for Baby's Bums event set a record for the number of diapers donated.
The winter weather didn't prevent people from coming out to the Beaver Island Tap Room in St. Cloud to donate 44,552 diapers to organizations that help families in need.
This was the fourth year the event was held at Beaver Island.
Organizers say, including what was collected before the event, they've crossed the halfway mark to their 100,000-diaper goal.
The group is gearing up for its year end bash on New Year’s Day during the Grand Finale Party at Pioneer Place on Fifth.
At the party, all the businesses collecting diapers for the last month will bring their donations to be counted.
Operation Baby New Year also takes donations that are tax deductible. The group uses the money to purchase diapers.
This year's final tally will be announced at that time.
