COLD SPRING, Minn. (KNSI) The Cold Spring City Council has made certain that no one in that city's police department will ever wear badge number 6-4-0-2 again.
That was the badge number of officer Tom Decker, who lost his life on the night of November 29th.
Decker was shot while responding to a call behind Winner's Bar in Cold Spring. No one has been charged in his death, and the investigation continues.
Cold Spring Police Chief Phil Jones requested Decker's badge number be retired and as expected, the vote was unanimous.
Other honors will come Decker's way. The Legislature is working on re-naming a stretch of Highway 23 in Stearns County after Decker, and in May, his name will be added to the National Peace Officers Memorial in Washington D.C.
