(KNSI) – The St. Cloud Rox Baseball Club is welcoming back a former hurler to guide its staff through the 2024 Northwoods League season.

Trevor Charpie is a California native who spent time with the Rox from 2014 to 2016. He was a league all-star in the 2015 season. Charpie went on to pitch in the Tampa Bay Rays system, including 27 games as a reliever for their high-A team in the Florida State League. Charpie was 4-1 with 34 strikeouts in 44 and a third innings in 2018. He got to Double-A the following season.

He is currently an assistant at Youngstown State University in Ohio. Charpie says, “The Rox are a huge part of my baseball career.  The relationships I have built from St. Cloud have lasted well after my time playing there.  St. Cloud has been a huge part of my life and to be able to come back and coach in St. Cloud is a huge honor.  I can’t put into words what it means to be coming back and passing along the tradition of Rox Baseball to our players.”

Former pitching coach Michael McCormick is moving on to the Boston Red Sox organization. He joins 2014 coach J.P. Martinez in a Major League organization. Martinez is an assistant on the San Francisco Giants staff.

The Rox season begins in May.
