(KNSI) – A new survey shows Minnesota is among the most giving states. WalletHub determined the most charitable of the 50 states by comparing them across 19 key indicators of charitable behavior. The data set ranges from the volunteer rate to the share of income donated to the homeless.

According to WalletHub, Minnesota was ranked third overall with a score of 67.72. Minnesota was third for volunteering and 9th for charitable giving. Utah and Maryland finished in first and second place with scores of 71.09 and 67.84.

The bottom three states were Mississippi, Arizona and New Mexico.

The latest World Giving Index shows that Americans donated more than $471 billion to charity in 2020, with 69% of the funds coming from individuals, according to the National Philanthropic Trust.
