(KNSI) – A Sartell man is facing three felony charges after allegedly assaulting a man who was spending time with his ex-girlfriend.

According to the criminal complaint, just after midnight Tuesday morning, police were called to a home in St. Cloud for a report of an assault. When they arrived, they discovered a man lying on the floor. They say he had “visible injuries” and was taken to St. Cloud Hospital for treatment.

Investigators spoke with a woman at the home who said that 21-year-old Jahee Jamill Lasley had repeatedly called her and sent text messages, and when she wouldn’t answer, he showed up and started yelling at her from outside. She told investigators she asked Lasley to leave, but he broke into the home through a window in her child’s bedroom and assaulted the man inside.

The woman explained the Lasley attacked the man, punching him in the face, and grabbed him by the neck and shoulder, and dragged him down the stairs, leaving him on the ground unconscious. She said she ran into a bedroom, but Lasley kicked in the door and started yelling at her, then went back and repeatedly kicked the man in the head, chest, and stomach. She said she laid on top of the man to get Lasley to stop, and eventually, he ran out the door. She suffered cuts and scrapes as a result.

While police were there, the criminal complaint says Lasley called the woman and said he hoped the man was dead and he was glad he was injured.

Investigators spoke to the victim at the hospital, who corroborated the woman’s story.

According to the criminal complaint, police found Lasley at his home, hiding behind his garage. It says that in a Mirandized statement, Lasley told police he was at home all night with his children and never left. He claimed he did not understand why he was in jail.

Lasley has been charged with first-degree burglary, third-degree assault, and felony domestic assault.
