(KNSI) – One person is under arrest, and a teenager is fighting for his life after a shooting early Sunday morning in St. Cloud.

According to police, just after 2:30, officers responded to a call of multiple gunshots at Go For It Gas in the 1000 block of 9th Avenue South. When they arrived, they found a 17-year-old shot in the torso and the suspect had fled the scene. A handgun was recovered.

Investigators say they believe the shooting stemmed from an argument that led to a physical altercation in the parking lot, and the victim and suspect know each other. The victim was rushed to CentraCare-St. Cloud Hospital, before being airlifted to a Twin Cities hospital in critical but stable condition.

Police tracked down the 17-year-old suspect at a home on the 1400 block of 6th Avenue South and got a search warrant to go in and arrest him. Around 6:25 Sunday evening, the SWAT Team took the teen into custody without further incident.

He was booked into the Stearns County jail and is awaiting formal charges of felony assault and felon in possession of a firearm.

During the investigation, a 31-year-old woman showed up at the hospital with a gunshot wound to her leg suffered during the incident. She was treated and released.
