Wright County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Potential Car Theft Spree

(KNSI) – The Wright County Sheriff’s Office says at least 13 vehicles were broken into on Sunday spread out across three churches.

Officials say they responded to Quarry Church on Highway 25 Northeast in Monticello Township at about 12:30 p.m. for a theft. Surveillance video showed a person driving into the parking lot in a silver Nissan Murano, getting out and then breaking out the driver’s side window of another vehicle. While it is not believed anything was taken in that case, the person did steal from another vehicle.

Thefts were also reported at Buffalo Evangelical Free Church and Connection Point Church. The sheriff’s office says it has counted 13 victims among what are similar incidents.

An investigation is ongoing. It has not been confirmed if the incidents are connected.
