(KNSI) – The man accused of hitting his child’s mother while she was driving and abducting their son has pleaded guilty.

Police say 42-year-old Scott Henrickson was in the car with the woman and their child on Highway 10 in Sherburne County on July 29th when the two of them began to argue. Henrickson allegedly punched the woman in the stomach and also hit the child on his legs. She pulled over and when she got out, Henrickson allegedly jumped into the driver’s seat and took off. That triggered an AMBER Alert. Henrickson was tracked to a home in Baxter where he held police at bay for a few hours before surrendering.

The child was returned to his mother and Henrickson was charged with kidnapping, domestic abuse and violating a domestic abuse no contact order. He pleaded guilty to kidnapping and the no contact order violation. The other charge was dropped.

Sentencing is April 25th. He is expected to get around six years in prison.
