(KNSI) — The 2023 Stearns Bank Community Challenge, with help from the generous public and business community, raised more than $500,000 to help area food shelves.

The Central Minnesota Community Foundation totaled up all of the donations and a $150,000 dollar for dollar match thanks to Stearns Bank N.A. to bring in a whopping $576,000. The money will be shared between Catholic Charities, the Salvation Army and St. Joseph food shelves.

Since 2000, CMCF has partnered with various organizations to host a fundraiser to support area food shelves during the holiday season. Over the years, this fundraiser has contributed over $6.7 million to Catholic Charities, Salvation Army, and St. Joseph food shelves.

“This year’s Community Challenge showcases the philanthropic hearts of those in our community,” said Greta Stark-Kraker, Executive Director of CMCF, in a press release. She adds, “At the Foundation, we are grateful to the community for coming together to truly make a difference for families in need during this holiday season.”

Rory Bidinger, Chief Marketing Officer, Stearns Bank N.A., said, “The ongoing generosity of our neighbors throughout Central Minnesota is inspiring. “Stearns Bank is proud to be a part of this community-wide effort that continues to make a meaningful impact to feed those in need.”
