(KNSI) – At least one hall at St. Cloud State University will still echo with the sounds of students this holiday break.

The SPARK STEM Conference will bring better than 600 area elementary and middle schoolers to campus on January 4th. The event runs from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. inside the Wick Science Building. The event hopes to engage the next generation and drive interest in turning them into computer programmers, engineers, or mathematicians.

There are 23 different sessions with topics ranging from the science of cryogenics to insect safari and laser cutting. Each student gets to select three of those. Everyone will learn about the physics of Yo-Yo’s.

Over 100 volunteers and educators will help put the event on. Register for the conference here.
