(KNSI) – The Jolly Trolley was on a roll last week.

Metro Bus said in a press release Monday that this year’s haul was a record. In three days, $4,484 and 12,726 pounds of food were collected. The supplies will help Catholic Charities Emergency Services, Promise Neighborhood of Central Minnesota, and the St. Cloud Area Salvation Army this holiday season.

The love was spread to pets as well. The trolley made a pitstop at the Tri-County Humane Society, loaded with pallets of dog food and other treats.

Organizers say several area businesses made vital contributions to this year’s food drive. Gate City Bank, Lunds and Byerlys, and others donated food and money. House of Pizza and Taco Johns delivered meals to volunteers each night. Midway Iron weighed the donations. Many others got involved as well.

The Jolly Trolley has racked up 29 tons of non-perishable food and over $30,000 in the past 13 years.
