(KNSI) – St. John’s Prep Boys Cross Country added a section championship to their trophy case on Thursday. It comes on the heels of a conference crown.

Leading the way in Section 5A means the entire team will participate at the state meet on November 4th in Falcon Heights at the University of Minnesota Les Bolstad Course. The results in sections looked very similar to the conference race at the individual level.

Nick Hansen and Zach Meyer of St. Joseph, and Ben Suo of St. Cloud all finished in the top five. The Johnnies outlasted Cathedral, Pine City, Holdingford, and Pierz to come out on top.

The girls’ team finished third, but two runners were able to individually secure a spot at the state title meet. Olivia Pauly of St. Cloud and Louise Ruzanic of Cold Spring crossed the line in under 20 minutes.

Pauly was first overall at 18:38:30. Ruzanic managed 6th place with a time of 19:56:20.
