(KNSI) – The National Night Out event at the St. Cloud Community Outpost next Tuesday will cause a road closure.

The city sent out a bulletin for 13th Street South at 6th Avenue South. The shutdown includes the intersection and a stretch running west up to a nearby alley. The event is one of many expected across St. Cloud from 5:00 to 9:30 p.m. It includes anything from cookouts to block parties and youth activities. The police and fire departments will be making their way from gathering to gathering as the evening wears on.

KNSI Radio will be holding its last 2023 Know Your Neighbor outing that night as well at the COP House. The concept behind both is to make the world a better place by meeting the people on your block and those who patrol it. Once you have built a connection with someone, the hope is that you are invested in looking out for them like you would yourself or your family.

Sartell and other area cities also take part. National Night Out is expected to be celebrated in nearly 17,000 communities this year.
