(KNSI) – Pack the lettuce, tomato, Heinz 57, and French fried potatoes and escape to medium rare and Muenster heaven with the Great Theatre.

The outdoor production at Waite Park’s Ledge Amphitheater this year is a jukebox musical featuring the tropical tunes of Jimmy Buffett. The Ledge boasts a large stage space but Artistic and Education Director Kendra Norton Dando says they have a couple of tricks up their sleeve to compensate.

“We are utilizing video tiles again this year, which is really exciting because that gives us vertical space to play with as a storytelling element,” says Norton Dando.

The group is putting on a presentation of the 2017 jukebox musical “Escape to Margaritaville” Tuesday through Thursday. Norton Dando says there is a story surrounding a bachelorette party at a tropical island but it’s the music that shines.

She jokes, “Of course, we’re outside. It’s a concert venue. And Jimmy Buffett’s music at a concert venue just makes a lot of sense. It’s a really fun show and you get to listen to and sing along to — maybe we’ll have people dancing to Jimmy Buffett’s greatest hits.”

Norton Dando says the cast has been digging the over-the-top, fun numbers like Cheeseburger in Paradise and Volcano. Links to buy tickets are here and here.
