(KNSI) – Foley Fun Days is mixing denim and diamonds to inspire this year’s festival.

It begins to ramp up this weekend. City-wide garage sales and a farmers market start Friday with the ambassador coronation at 6:00 p.m. Saturday. Organizer Juanita Beauchamp says there is a full field for the judges to pick from. The royalty play an active role in the rest of the festival.

“Reading with the royalty is on Tuesday. We have family fun night on Tuesday and we have a kiddie parade and then Wednesday is bingo with the royalty,” Beauchamp says.

Other weekend fun includes the Sons of the American Legion breakfast.

Beauchamp says if you only have time for one thing, make sure you head downtown next Wednesday for the parade. It steps off earlier this year. Beauchamp says, “We are starting it a half hour earlier. So, we are starting at 6:00 p.m. this year. We will still have around 100 parade floats and then we have nine bands.”

The route will be the same as last year, which is different from the normal path, because of construction. It runs south down 4th Avenue, turning onto Dewey Street and finishing along Norman Avenue North.

Beauchamp says her other suggestion is to check out the offerings from a wide range of food vendors.
