(KNSI) – Sartell Summerfest kicks off Friday.

The 30th edition of the event technically got started earlier in the week with city-wide garage sales. That fun expands to include a barbecue in the city hall parking lot at 4:00 p.m., sponsored by VoightJohnson. Liberty Bank has Libertyville set up where kids can enjoy bounce houses, face painting, and wacky hair, among other zany activities.

The white truss bridge over the Mississippi will be rededicated as a pedestrian bridge at 8:30 p.m. Engagement Director Nikki Sweeter talks about the changes.

“There’s some fishing piers and people can walk out on it and just kind of take in the river and all the sights around it. And my favorite part about the bridge is that it will be lit up at night so we will do a big light reveal on the bridge so people can see it lit up for the first time.”

There will be remarks from Mayor Ryan Fitzthum and then a gathering at the River Boat Depot afterward.

Construction on Riverside Avenue was so 2022. That’s a welcome thing not just for motorists but also for the organizers of the Granite Logistics Parade, says Sweeter.

“Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. is our parade which is moved back to County Road 1, which we’re excited about. We have about 55 folks in that one.”

The event should last about an hour and 15 minutes. The route ends at Riverside Intermediate School.

Saturday evening the fun is once again in the Sartell City Hall parking lot for the Great River Bowl & Partners Pub Street Dance. The Honey Badgers will play from 6:30 to 10:00.

There will be no fireworks this year on Saturday night. The full list of events is here.
