8AAAA

Sartell 2, Elk River 1 F/11 innings: Sabre starter Wesley Johnson shined on the mound. He stayed on the bump for 10 innings, giving up just one run on seven hits. Johnson improves to 5-1 this season. Reliever Brayden Simones picks up the save. Gavan Schulte walked and started a rally in the top of the 11th. A second walk and a wild pitch put runners in scoring position with two out. An Elk River error brought Schulte home for the winning run.

St. Michael-Albertville 14, St. Cloud Crush 7: St. Cloud’s season is over after falling in the elimination bracket.

8AAAA play is paused until Tuesday, June 6th. (6) Sartell plays at (5) Rogers in the semifinal at 4:30 p.m. The elimination bracket has a triple header at Springer Park. (2) Elk River v. (9) Brainerd and (1) Bemidji v. (3) STMA. The winners of those games will meet at 7:00 p.m.

8AAA

ROCORI 5, Detroit Lakes 3: The Spartans scored a run in each of the second, third, and fourth innings, plus two in the fifth. They then held on to top the Lakers. All of the DL runs were unearned. ROCORI’s Jack Boos was 2-3 with two RBI.

Sauk Rapids-Rice 15, Willmar 2: The Storm advance in the elimination bracket.

Saturday’s slate:

Cathedral 4, Foley 3: The Falcons scored three times in the bottom of the third to go up 3-1. Crusader starter John Brew held Foley off the board through the sixth inning and allowed his team to catch up. Cooper Kosiba had two hits. Tanner Staller knocked in two runs to tie it in the fifth and then led off the top of the 7th with a single. Jack Hamak pinch ran, advancing to second on a sacrifice bunt from Trevor Fleege. Hamak scampered over to third on a groundout to the shortstop and came home on a wild pitch with two outs to score the winning run.

Softball

8AAA

ROCORI 6, Sauk Rapids-Rice 0: The Spartans entered the section as the one-seed and went undefeated en route to an 8AAA softball championship.

ROCORI will play in the state quarterfinal round Thursday morning at 11:15 a.m. at Caswell Park in Mankato. Seeding is expected to be announced Sunday. The Spartans’ opponent won’t be known until then. If ROCORI wins, the state semifinal game is also Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
