(KNSI) – House of Pizza Owner Brandon Testa was busy on Tuesday, visiting schools in three area districts to help celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week.

It’s the third year the restaurant has handed out $5 gift certificates to staff in Saint Cloud, Sartell, and Sauk Rapids. Testa says they coordinate with the office at each school and the certificates are left in the mailbox slots for individual teachers and custodians. Testa says the reaction has been overwhelming.

“Teachers were just thrilled. Normally, we’d see the administrative person or whatever and they were just thrilled to have it and then we got a lot of good feedback and comments on social media as well.”

Over $9,000 worth of gift certificates were delivered. Testa says several educators have already made their way to House of Pizza’s two locations to take advantage of the deal.

Testa says the successes of our teachers help fuel the success of the overall community. House of Pizza, like many restaurants, has students who work there for a first job, and even more college students who come back over the summer.

“I can guarantee you that teachers that are coming into our locations will more than likely, on any given chance, will be welcomed with one of their students or somebody that they may see in the halls at their schools.”

It took over five hours to deliver the gift certificates.
