(KNSI) – After months of deliberations, St. Benedict’s Monastery has chosen a new leader.

Known as a prioress, Sister Karen Rose will essentially function as the business executive for the monastery, in addition to having a big say in its spiritual operations. Rose is currently the director of mission advancement. In that role, she ran the organization’s marketing arm, ran fundraisers, managed donor relations, and helped direct that generosity to worthy causes.

St. Benedict’s Monastery has 157 members and they first began discussions about a new prioress in the fall. The group held a canonical election recently, which wrapped up in about an hour.

Rose will serve the greater community as well. The monastery was responsible for founding the College of Saint Benedict and St. Cloud Hospital. Rose will represent the organization on the board of directors for both of those entities.

Rose is officially elevated to prioress on June 4th during an installation ceremony at Sacred Heart Chapel. Roe replaces Sister Susan Rudolph and will serve as prioress for six years.
