Sartell Girls Hooper Hits Career Milestone, Crusaders Stay Perfect in Granite Ridge Girls Hoops

Girls’ Basketball

Cathedral 57, Pierz 45: The Pioneers put a small lineup on the court but Pierz held their own on the glass and were opportunistic from beyond the arc, scoring exclusively from downtown in the first half with seven three-pointers.

Cathedral weathered an early storm and went to work down low. Grace Sand had a game-high 16 points, even though she missed several minutes in the second half due to foul trouble. Ella Voit added 14, most of those coming after she jammed her wrist after colliding with the backwall underneath her own basket trying to halt a transition bucket.

The Crusaders ended the first half strong to go up 28-21 at the break. Pierz answered early in the second but could not keep the Crusaders within reach down the stretch. The Pioneers were led by Alyssa Sadlovsky with 11 points.

Coming into the game, Sadlovsky was fourth in the Granite Ridge Conference in scoring and Sand was third. Cathedral is now 6-4 overall.

Buffalo 69, Sartell 61: Sabres guard Avery Templin scored her 1,000th career point in the loss. Sartell falls to 9-4 overall, having dropped two straight.
