(KNSI) – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Minnesota has been given a generous $550,000 donation.

The money was raised during the 18th annual Federated Mutual Insurance Company’s Federated Challenge. The event raised a record-breaking $3,876,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters.

The St. Cloud organization received a check during its board meeting on Tuesday. BBBS says $50,000 will go to its Scholarships for Bigs Program. The program helps high school kids as they plan for their future.

The Federated Challenge was founded in 2005 as a two-day fund-raising event hosted by Federated Insurance, a commercial insurance company headquartered in Owatonna, Minnesota.
