(KNSI) – I’ve been dealing with a lingering cold. Enjoy this week’s high school football update. I promise a comprehensive update for everything else will be completed by the end of the weekend.
North Central Conference
Monticello 18, (0-5) St. Cloud Tech 6: The Magic put a hex on Tech’s homecoming winning by two scores. Monticello pitched a shutout until the fourth quarter when backup Tech quarterback Jackson Sheets ran it in from five yards out on 4th-and-goal. The teams combined for over 10 turnovers. Monticello running back Blake Holthaus had two touchdowns and sophomore quarterback Luke Emmerich added another on the ground.
(4-0) Sauk Rapids-Rice 22, Cambridge-Isanti 12: Lightning struck for the Storm on the game’s first play. An onside kick attempt was picked up by Mason Rudolph and taken 50 yards for a touchdown. A two-point conversion made it 8-0 with 11:49 left in the first quarter. Quarterback Keegan Patterson found Andrew Harren from 28 yards out, expanding the lead to 16-0. Deagan Gondeck secured a 59-yard scoop n’ score fumble recovery putting Sauk Rapids-Rice up 22 at the half. Cambridge-Isanti had 58 rushing attempts for 241 yards and two touchdowns as a team.
(5-0) ROCORI 54, Chisago Lakes 6: Quarterback Jack Spanier threw for two touchdowns, one to wide receiver Hunter Nistler in the first quarter and then tight end Evan Acheson in the third. Mason Dahl rushed in from nine yards out and Gabe Johnson tacked on two on the ground. Standout offensive tackle and North Dakota commit shined on defense. He rumbled 26 yards on a fumble recovery in the second quarter.
Willmar 14, (1-4) Sartell-St. Stephen 6
East Central Conference
Zimmerman 48, (0-4) Foley 7: Falcon quarterback Gavin Gross connected with wide receiver Bryce Gapinski in the fourth quarter to put Foley on the board. Zimmerman Caden Spence had six rushing touchdowns..
(4-0) Milaca 20, Princeton 19 (OT): Two Jack Schoenborn rushing scores put Milaca up 12-0 in the first quarter. The Tigers tied it with 7:13 left in the game. The teams went to overtime with Princeton getting the ball first. They found the end zone and tacked on a PAT, leading 19-12. Milaca answered with an 18-yard touchdown pass. The Wolves went for two, turning to Schoenborn. He crossed the goal line, securing the deciding point.
