(KNSI) – Volunteers will meet on the first two Sundays in October, the 2nd and 9th of the month, to help remove buckthorn from Wildwood County Park, around Kraemer Lake.

Buckthorn is officially recognized as an invasive species by the Department of Natural Resources and can be found at several locations in the state, including the St. Joseph park. Equipment is provided. Just show up in appropriate attire and wearing gloves to the main parking lot at 1:00 p.m. Registering in advance is not required. Each session goes for three hours.

The event is organized by Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources Mitigation Program Coordinator Ben Carlson. Learn more about buckthorn and the problems it poses by clicking here.
