(KNSI) – First responders were called to Westwood Elementary in St. Cloud on Tuesday morning after a student experienced a medical emergency.
According to school officials, staff responded immediately, and emergency services arrived shortly thereafter. The child involved is receiving medical care.
The district emphasized that all safety protocols were followed and that the school environment remains secure for students and staff. Regular school operations have resumed.
The district issued a communication to families out of an abundance of caution, acknowledging that some community members may have observed emergency vehicles and police activity at the school. Given the heightened awareness around school safety issues nationwide, district officials wanted to ensure families were promptly informed that this was a medical emergency and that all students and staff remained safe.
