Authorities Identify Man Who Drowned While Swimming at Lake Pulaski

(KNSI) — The Wright County Sheriff’s Office says a man who went under while swimming on Lake Pulaski near Buffalo has died.

The sheriff’s office and Buffalo Police Department were called to the lake Monday at 4:15 p.m. for a possible drowning. Authorities say 20-year-old Jair Sanchez Loya was swimming and at one point was on a flotation device but “became separated from the device” and did not resurface. After about an hour of searching, the dive team found Loya and pulled him out of the lake.

Life saving measures were taken at the shore, and he was rushed via ambulance to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
