(KNSI) — A woman was discovered dead in Watab Township early Thursday morning, with the cause still unknown. The Benton County Sheriff’s Office got a call at 7:48 saying a body was lying motionless on the ice covering Harris Channel. The strip of water connects the Mississippi River with Little Rock Lake. According to a press release, authorities do not believe foul play is involved.
Midwest Medical Examiners has yet to positively identify the body. Temperatures were in the mid- to low-30’s throughout Wednesday night into Thursday.
Rice Police Department, Sauk Rapids Fire, and Mayo Ambulance all assisted on scene.
