(KNSI) – Four firefighters were hospitalized for heat exhaustion as they fought to contain a blaze that swallowed up an RV and a garage Tuesday afternoon in Meeker County.
The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office says a 911 call came in just after 2:30 for an RV burning next to a garage in Ellsworth Township. When deputies arrived, the RV was fully engulfed, and the fire had spread to the garage. Crews from Cokato, Dassel, Hutchinson, Litchfield and the sheriff’s office all responded to the fire.
A press release says the RV, garage, and miscellaneous tools inside were at a total loss. The cause of the fire is believed to be an electrical issue.
Three Dassel firefighters and one Hutchinson firefighter were all taken to the hospital by ambulance to be treated for heat exhaustion. Temperatures were in the mid-90s Tuesday afternoon.
