BROOKINGS, S.D. (KNSI) St. Cloud Tech graduate Nate Wolters scored 22 points and Jordan Dykstra nailed four 3-point shots as South Dakota State held on to keep in front of Tennessee State 78-71 on Tuesday night in its home opener.
Wolters was 6 of 11 from the field and made all 10 of his free throws to lead the Jackrabbits. Dykstra added 18 points and made 4 of 5 at 3-point range. He was 5 of 8 from the field. Chad White added 11 points, including three 3-pointers. Tony Fiegen had 10 points and nine rebounds. South Dakota State (1-1) had a 42-27 lead at halftime.
Robert Covington had 23 points, including three 3-pointers, and 11 rebounds for the Tigers (0-2). Patrick Miller had 12 points and Jordan Cyphers added 10, including two 3-point shots.
The Jackrabbits have an 18-game winning streak at Frost Arena.
Tennessee State plays at Minnesota Thursday night.
