ST. CLOUD, Minn (KNSI) - The Sauk Rapids teenager connected to an early fall killing in St. Cloud will be tried as an adult.
17-year-old Jesse Smithers of Sauk Rapids will stand trial as an adult for the killing of Colton Gleason early last fall on a south St. Cloud street.
Smithers appeared in court Monday and bail was set at $1 million unconditional or $500,000 conditional.
Court documents say Smithers allegedly got out of a car he was riding in on the night of September 20th and punched Gleason in the face, causing him to fall back and hit his head. Soon after Gleason died of his injuries.
Throughout the investigation Smithers has denied involvement in the incident. The next hearing is scheduled for January 17, 2013.
